Pompeii 🌋 Forum at Pompeii - Temple of Jupiter 🏛 . An ancient Roman city buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. . Until the 18th century, the city remained buried and preserved by volcanic ash, leaving it untouched—and unseen—for nearly 1,700 years. Its mysteries continue to be unearthed today. . . #simplyitaly #contiki #contikieurope #pompeii #pompei #pompeiitaly #pompeiiitaly #pompeiiruins #templeofjupiter #italy #vesuvius #mtvesuvius #mountvesuvius #volcano #excavation #italytravel #europetravel #travelitaly #traveleurope #travelphotography #travelgram #travel

The Temple Of Jupiter.... The Temple of Jupiter was a temple in Roman Pompeii , at the north end of its forums. Initially dedicated to Jupiter alone, it was built in the mid-2nd century BC at the same time as the temple of apollo was being renovated - this was the area at which Roman influence over Pompeii increased and so Roman Jupiter superseded the Greek Apollo as the town's highest god. #3dprinting #ordercompleted✔️ #3d #3dmodel #innovate #explore #pla #technology #manufacturing #artifacts #ancientartifact #templeofjupiter #design

2018- The famous Mount Vesuvius, as seen from the forum in front of the temple of Jupiter. One thing about Pompeii when I was there, it was raining, my previous pictures may have shown that. While it did lead to rather cold and wet feet, it was by a wide margin better than it raining flaming rocks. #pompeii #forumofpompeii #templeofjupiter #vesuvius #vesuviuspompeii

Liban je zemlja istorije. Nikad nisam videla manju zemlju, a više svetski važnih lokacija, eksponata, ruševina.

Baalbek is close to Syria, I came here. It has totally different atmosphere compared with cities beside of Mediterranean Sea, and I liked the atmosphere of city and people here. Baalbek made me interested in visiting Syria. Someday, hopefully soon. Baalbek is located in Bekaa Valley, it was built as city-state and holy place by Phoenician BC 3000 years. Later this was under control of Roman Empire, they renewed and built temple. The scale and condition, both are wonderful. So value to visit. The ruins was highlight of Lebanon for me. The diameter of a stone pillar is bigger than my height (166cm), and I could find many huge monolith. Delicate sculpture. Here was so amazing.

'The stones here speak to me, and I know their mute language. Also, they seem deeply to feel what I think. So a broken column of the old Roman times, an old tower of Lombardy, a weather-beaten Gothic piece of a pillar understands me well. But I am a ruin myself, wandering among ruins.' 🏛 Heinrich Heine #templeofbacchus #templeofjupiter #templeofvenus

Post #6: Baalbek ruins! The mystery remains nowadays: How stones have been moved and have been manipulated at top of each other .. Baalbek is an ancient Phoenician city located in what is now modern day Lebanon, north of Beirut, in the Beqaa Valley. Inhabited as early as 9000 BCE, Baalbek grew into an important pilgrimage site in the ancient world for the worship of the Phoenician sky-god Baal and his consort Astarte, the Queen of Heaven (the name `Baalbek' means Lord Baal of the Beqaa Valley). The center of the city was a grand temple dedicated to Astarte and Baal and the ruins of this early temple remain today beneath the later Roman Temple of Jupiter Baal. The cornerstones of the earlier temple have been found to weigh over 100 tons and the retaining wall monoliths weigh, each, 300 tons, leaving present-day archaeologists, scientists and historians mystified as to how the stones were moved, where from, and in what way they could have been manipulated into place. These blocks, and another one mile from Baalbek which weighs over 900 tons, are known today as the Baalbek Stones and have been the subject of much debate, study and conjecture over how they were moved and arranged. Further questions arise as to why such massive stones were necessary at the site and why the columns of the temple are also larger than they needed to be. Later builders at the site, such as the Romans, used these early stones as the foundations for their own temples but clearly did not move them in any way. The immense weight and mass of these stones has led to much speculation concerning ancient alien activity at Baalbek and even that the site was an ancient landing pad for spaceships. None of these theories are regarded as substantial by the prevailing scholarly community nor have they ever been. #baalbek #lebanon #lebanonontheworldmap #baalbektemple #baalbekruins #baalbeklebanon #templeofjupiter #templeofbacchus #bacchus #romantemple #beirut #lebanon_on_the_world_map

Swipe for AD x Beirut, Day 1 - Today we explored the incredible ancient ruins of Baalbek. The temple complex is considered an outstanding archaeological and artistic site of Imperial Roman Architecture and was inscribed as an UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984. What was so amazing about this tour is the accessibility to the ruins. Learning that the columns were made from granite in Egypt and sent down the Nile to be brought to Lebanon for construction... come on! Way too much for an IG post... but more than anything what stood out was the superb craftsmanship of the stone and rock detail. Whoever the men and women were, the artists, they created such beautify that still lasts to this day, more than a thousand years later, rain or shine, crumbled to the ground. Still beautiful. . . . . . . . . . . . #batorrey #interiordesign #interiordecor #interiordesigner #architecture #design #designerslife #mood #vibe #designinspiration #baalbek #templeofjupiter #templeofbacchus #lebanon #adxbeirut #archdigest #adxindagarebeirut

Apr 20, 2019

The Temple of Jupiter (Croatian: Jupiterov hram) is a temple in Split, Croatia dedicated to the Ancient Roman god Jupiter. It is located in the western part of Diocletian's Palace near the Peristyle, the central square of the imperial complex. It was built between 295 and 305, during the construction of the Palace, and was probably turned into Baptistery of St. John the Baptist in the 6th century, at the same time when the crypt dedicated to St. Thomas was built. Before the entrance to the Temple is one of the twelve sphinxes brought from Egypt by Emperor Diocletian. Scottish architect Robert Adam considered this temple to be one of Europe's most beautiful monuments. ................... #templeofjupiter #diocletianspalace #romanempire #splitcroatia #diocletian #croatia #travel #travelphotography #travelgram #traveling #photography #photooftheday #photo #picoftheday #instagram #instagood #instadaily #instalike #instapic #instatravel #architecture #wanderlust #explore #eddiecroatia2019 #sphinx
