I can still remember when I squatted 200 lbs for the first time, it was a huge milestone for me. Fast forward to today and I'm squatting 195 lbs for reps ☺️. I'm still experiencing some soreness in my right glute and quad, but it didn't impact my lifts too much today. 2 more weeks and it's time to test my maxes. Ok my body feels like straight doo doo. Maybe I just ignored it during the week but I feel it now lmao straight poop 😂 Despite that...top double @ 140kg/308lbs RPE 7.5 This weight used to intimidate me and I also failed this weight twice before in comps. A small gain was made today and I’m definitely excited to see all the sweat and frustration is paying off and now looking forward to the Arnold. Somehow, I tore my goddamn upper lat doing Hatfield Squats. And while I’m pretty sure it’s just a low grade tear, what a miserable son of a bitch. But you know what I didn’t do? Pack it up and cry like a little bitch about it. Instead I loaded up the leg press machine and substituted my movement. Then did everything g else that I could on today’s list. Hopefully I don’t end up in the ICU for 9 days for continuing a workout with a muscle tear like last time. If I could put together three separate meets I would love my total pounds lifted. Each meet recently has contained one lift that improved. While the rest fell behind. This is my first meet where my total went down. Which is disappointing. But I finally got 150 on the bench - and I have been chasing that for three meets now. Nothing is given in #powerlifting - just cause you pulled a big #deadlift or maxed your #squat doesn’t mean you own that lift moving forward. BUT that long gradual gain in strength moves your “plateau” up. Slowly but surely the weight you grow from moves up. And that matters. I live to chase the JOY of finally making a lift. That rush - that delight - that pride is like nothing else I do in my life. It is addictive. What this video missed was my dancing leaping celebration after making the lift ....thank you to powerliftingdaddy for the advice before my last attempt and Coach Vince Wood!! So proundntonbe lifting with these strong ladies amy.lit and Jamie! The wnpf_powerlifting is such an amazing organization and the volunteers are beyond compare

Probably gonna have all of my deadlift and squat sessions until the meet at eastracemuscle to use the calibrated plates and correct bars. Went well and weight went up as expected. How to become a winner and keep winning? . Lose... . Wait, what? There are many moments I can look back on through my bodybuilding career and strongman career that stand out, one of them being after winning the PCA junior title and andymcb280 saying "about time, once you win one you wont stop now." . Winning is hard and not because of the people against you that you need to beat, but because you have to beat your biggest rival. Yourself. . It took me 5 attempts to win a bodybuilding show. With strongman it was a little different but another defining moment for me was Ireland's Strongest Man 105kg 2019, I dropped the conans wheel way too early after cruising with it in training, this mistake cost me a title as I placed top 2 every other event. . I cried the whole way home that day and I went back to the gym the day after and I promised myself that same day what happened that day would never happen again. Fast forward 2 months at the log and deadlift championships and I fell with 380kg in my hands costing me another title. I cried that day again, not because I was sad but just from sheer emotion from what me and Robert Clarke achieved that day, never in a million years did I expect to lift 380kg. . Fast forward to now and I have took back my record, lifted 5 winners titles, deadlifted 400kg since, haven't placed outside the top 3 in 10 months & haven't been beaten in competition now in 6 months. . There will come a point in life where you will fail, no matter what, it happens to everyone. I havent made a mistake in compeition in a long time and this comes down to mind set. You'll see in the pictures I'm not smiling or waving to the crowd or anything I am thinking about what's going to happen next on this event, something I have obsessed over in my head 1000 times before now & now I'm here & ready to do it. . Dont ever be afraid to fail but make sure you learn from those mistakes. Stress. Anxiety. Depression. You can beat the shit out of it all. Throughout high school I researched stress, recovery, nutrition, pretty much anything health related and I plan on doing that for the rest of my life. I started this account with the goal of helping people. However, I recently realized that I wasn’t quite doing that. Instead I was mostly showing off my body. . Starting now I’m going to take things more seriously and share my knowledge as I continue to learn.
