So this is my journey. The first picture is today and the 2nd picture is my journey the 1st year after my second child was born. It has not been an easy journey, but it’s been a blessing. I’ve learned and grown so much in these years (almost 3 now). ❤️ The person in the 2nd picture started out as an exhausted, stressed, slightly depressed (for reasons unknown at the time) and of course overweight from having a baby. Yes it was baby weight but as some know that’s sometimes the hardest to get off. I wanted my college body back. I wanted the energy. I wanted the want to do the things I loved to do, but it was hard. The feelings, the emotions, the things no one really sees you fighting kept holding me back. When we moved to CA the door opened for a new adventure. It opened my eyes to a new me. I’ve not only experienced a healthier way of living for myself and my family I have grown as a person and a professional. It has been one of the best decision I could make for myself and my family. Fast forward to now and I’m back to my college weight (kept it off this entire time) and feeling a lot better. Do I get tired, yes. Do I have bouts of depression, yes. Do I have cheat days or meals, yes. So I stress out, yes. I’m human. One things constant tho, I keep working on me. I’m so glad I found my passion again! It has been a struggle the past few years trying to find what makes me feel like me again. What makes me get up and go in the morning. What makes my heart so full (of course the kids and the hubby hold that down pretty good too ❤️). I’ve learned through this journey I love helping people. I love helping others be their best. I love seeing friends loose weight, improve their numbers (cholesterol, etc), decrease the needs of certain meds, improve their strength, improve their self confidence, love themselves and most of all love seeing each individual succeed! Week 5 Exercise Upper Torso Exercise Many people dislike and are unable to do a push-up. However, doing variations on a traditional push-up can make it more enjoyable, easier to keep the proper form, and help you build strength. Push-ups are beneficial for building upper body strength; they work the triceps, your chest, and your shoulders. When you’re are in the proper form, sucking in your stomach and keeping a flat back, they also strengthen the lower back and core (the trunk). They are a fast and effective exercise! Exercise – Assisted Push-up Release Steps: 1. Go down onto your arms and knees or your arms and feet (depending on your fitness level/skills. Do not cross your legs, this could cause a hip imbalance, and keep your legs parallel to one another. 2. Go down at a controlled speed into a push-up. Try to keep your arms in. Make sure you have grip on the floor, and are putting weight onto the base of your hand and your fingertips. 3. Make sure you back is flat, you are sucking in and engaging your core muscles. 4. When you go down, lay your body down on the ground and life your arms up off the floor. You should feel a squeeze between your shoulder blades. 5. Go back into push-up form, and push your body off the floor into the starting position. 6. One of the most important and rewarding aspects of cooking for me, is sharing the process with my little one. Children love being involved and to learn along side you in whatever activity you do (ours happens to be cooking👩‍🍳👩‍🌾) Once you turn to them and share in their excitement and curiosity, watching them blossom as they put their newfound knowledge into action (however big or small it is) turns magical. 🍓 My little one has been cooking beside me since before she could walk. We started with sprinkling in herbs & spices, to stirring, and when she could walk I'd send her outdoors to cut herbs for our sauces, to water our strawberries, lemon trees or plant seeds beside me, eventually turning into choosing food besides me at the farmer's markets👩‍🌾. Her curiosity about how things come to be has always been my favorite to experience as a parent. 🥦 That being said as parents it's important we lay down the foundation for them to be interested in the food they consume, it's beneficial factors, what's good & bad, where it came from and with Ayurveda, how it was made, what's in season & what to avoid to not imbalance your body type or how to identify how their body feels after a meal to feel content & not in discomfort! (That's a hefty topic but we work on it in our day to day activities) 🍉 Most importantly sharing the notion that food has a culture. It has a history. It has a story. It has a pUrpOse. Once you realize all of that, You, as the cook, bring soul to the recipe while sharing with your little one how to do that all with your little one. 🍎 Anyway didn't mean for that to turn into a chapter but it's just such a fun topic that brings me joy! The trouble with transformation pics is that they look like they happened instantaneously. We just want to get to the “after” so badly, and while the side by sides are SO inspirational, they can be misleading. It took me 2 years and 7 months to lose 138 pounds and surpass my goal. I then went on to lose another 18 pounds over the next year, and then i gained a few back. My child doubled his age in that time. We bought a house. I had two miscarriages. I changed jobs. I got a promotion. My son switched schools, twice. I traveled for work and for pleasure. I made A LOT of new friends and lost some friends, too. I had 3 birthdays and celebrated 3 more anniversaries with my husband. And then he left me. There has been a lot of LIFE that happened between my “start” and my “now”. It wasn’t overnight. It wasn’t a smooth road. It took resilience and time. It took A LOT of time. And it was worth every minute. Resist the urge to compare time frames. I’ve seen people on here who lost the same amount as me in a single year. That’s wonderful for them! But that’s not my journey. There’s nothing wrong with my time frame, and there’s nothing wrong with yours. It’s YOUR journey, at YOUR pace. Saturday afternoon post-workout lunch: whole wheat toast with mashed avocado, fresh salsa, a fried egg, and hot sauce; Greek yogurt with 1/2 a banana; and 2 peanut butter oat bites. For my workout today I did one of the toneitup pregnancy booty workouts while Connor napped. It’s bright and sunny ☀️ and warmer than it usually is in February, so we are planning on spending lots of time outside this afternoon walking and playing. Have a great weekend!

I’m glad I don’t look and FEEL like I did in my before photos. I wish it hadn’t taken me so long and I wish I could have some self control and cut out the donuts and cookies and bagels with cream cheese and huge dinners at yummy restaurants. If I had cut those things out then by now I would be where I truly want to be. If I could tell you one thing about health and wellness this far is that healthy looks different on everyone. You should never being basing your idea of healthy off of your favorite blogger, instagram account, YouTuber, or brand. We all come from different places, cultures, families, bodies, good and bad experiences. We can’t take all of this and put it into one little word and define it. Comparison can be one of the biggest struggles for some people and I know I’ve fallen guilty for it myself.
